The central committee of the OSE, international Jewish health society, today issued a plea for the establishment of Jewish medical units, consisting of doctors and trained nurses to follow the Allied armies into liberated territories in Europe to organize immediate aid for tens of thousands of Jews who will be in urgent need of medical treatment after being released from camps on leaving hiding places.
The committee here has already assigned the sum of 400,000 Swiss francs, approximately $100,000, to start medical emergency relief work among Jews in liberated countries immediately after cessation of hostilities, the appeal revealed. The OSE has secured the cooperation of the American Joint Distribution Committee, Swedish Relief Committee and the Federation of Jewish Communities in Switzerland in providing financial Backing for the project. It also expects the active participation of Palestine Jewish organizations.
