The Forward, the oldest and only Yiddish daily in this country, will mark its 75th anniversary this Sunday at a gala celebration at the Philharmonic Hall in Lincoln Center. Among the speakers will be Simon Weber, editor of the Forward; Ambassador David Rivlin, Consul General, Harold Ostroff, newly elected president of the Workmen’s Circle; and Dr. Samuel Silverberg, president of the Forward Association who will introduce Judge Jacob Zuckerman, chairman of the Jewish Labor Committee.
The highlight of the celebration will be the presentation of an award by Louis Stulberg, president of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, AFL-CIO, to George Meany, president of the AFL-CIO. Others expected to participate in the gala include Jacob Potofsky, president of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers Union, AFL-CIO. A program of music and folk singing is also scheduled.
