Rabbi S. M. Neches, a well-known Hebrew scholar and rabbi of the Breed Street Synagogue, is the instigator of a movement for the establishment of a Hebrew Research library in Los Angeles. A group of prominent students of Hebrew and Jewish literature and culture met at the Modern Social Center last night, and elected Dr. George J. Saylin as chairman of the organization to be known as “The Hebrew Library Association.”
Rabbi Neches, who has one of the finest libraries in the Southwest of Judaica and Hebraica, stated that the purpose of this organization was to foster Jewish and Hebrew Culture and Literature, and the gathering of material for a center of Hebrew studies.
