A Foundation has been established here to raise funds for the restoration of the Jewish cemetery in Pyskowice, Poland where the graves of Dutch, French, Belgian and Hungarian Jews who died at Auschwitz have been vandalized in recent years.

The cost is estimated at nearly 6.4 million Zlotys, about $60,000. The Foundation stated that the Polish authorities refused repeated appeals to restore the cemetery where gravestones have been overturned or destroyed and the marble stolen. The authorities are now willing to do the work, provided the funds come from abroad, the Foundation said.

Pyskowice is located northwest of Katowice, the Polish city closest to the Auschwitz complex.
