Four Jews were elected to the territorial parliament in the recent Southern elections, it was reported today. They were: Abraham Eliezer Abrahams, Minister for Labor and Housing, Benny Goldstein, Dr. Morris Isaac Hirsh and Harry Pichanik, formerly Mayor of Salisbury.
At a press conference here, Roy Welensky, Rhodesian Prime Minister, said he intended to take up an invitation from Israel Premier David Ben Gurion to visit the Jewish State. He plans to stop off in Israel on his return from the Commonwealth Prime Ministers’ conference in London next year. He said that there was less racialism in the Rhodesian Federation than in any other part of the world.
