Four Jews were elected to the New Jersey House of Assembly last week. Joseph Altman of Atlantic City; Morris E. Barison and J. Greenberg of Jersey City; and Louis N. Freeman of Newark, are the legislators. Messrs. Altman and Barison were re-elected.

Assemblyman Basil B. Bruno of Long Branch, who at last year’s session sponsored the so-called “Bible Bill” in the legislature, was defeated for the office of Sheriff of Monmouth County.

Advance contributions totaling $1,204,590 from the trustees of the ninety-one affiliated institutions of the Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies were announced by Sol M. Stroock, President of the federation, toward the $4,720,000 goal, the campaign for which was opened Sunday night.

At the annual dinner of the Ethical Culture Society Monday night at the Hotel Majestic Dr. Felix Adler, founder of the society, $1,000,000 to build a pre-professional school of business. More than $560,000 of the required sum has already bten raised.
