The French Government has protested to Egypt against the arrest of French citizens among the dozen Jews rounded up in Cairo and Alexandria recently on charges of “espionage” for Israel, it was announced here today.
A spokesman for the Quai d’Orsay stressed that the French note of protest was written in very serious terms. He noted that France is determined to provide the necessary facilities for the defense of its nationals in the Egyptian courts.
