RESISTANCE TO THE BRITISH PROPOSAL TO PARTITION PALESTINE BY THE FRENCH GOVERNMENT IS REPORTED IN A DISPATCH TO THE NEW YORK TIMES BY ITS LONDON POLITICAL COMMENTATOR “AUGUR.”

FRANCE HAS INFORMED BRITAIN THAT FINAL DECISION ON PALESTINE CANNOT BE TAKEN WITHOUT HER CONSENT, AUGUR DECLARS, AND THIS IS CAUSING THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT MORE CONCERN THAN THE UNANIMOUS OPPOSITION OF THE ARABS AND THAT OF A LARGE SECTION OF THE JEWS.

POINTING OUT, ACCORDING TO AUGUR, THAT FINAL DECISION RESTS WITH THE LEAGUE OF NATIONS, IN WHICH FRANCE IS REPRESENTED, THE FRENCH HAVE PRESSED BRITAIN TO CONSULT THEM BEFORE PROCEEDING FURTHER.
