FRANCO-BRITISH CONVERSATIONS REGARDING THE BRITISH PLAN TO DIVIDE PALESTINE INTO ARAB AND JEWISH STATES, SEPARATED BY A BUFFER TERRITORY UNDER BRITISH MANDATE, WILL BE HELD SOON, IT WAS LEARNED HERE TODAY BY THE HAVAS NEWS AGENCY.

AS MANDATORY POWER IN SYRIA, FRANCE HAS INTERESTS INVOLVING THE MOSLEM WORLD GENERALLY, IT WAS POINTED OUT, AND HAS SPECIAL INTERESTS IN PALESTINE BECAUSE OF RELIGIOUS MISSIONS THERE.

AUTHORIZED SOURCES DENIED REPORTS THAT THE FRENCH GOVERNMENT HAD SENT A MEMORANDUM TO GREAT BRITAIN PROTESTING AGAINST THE PARTITION PLAN. THE FRENCH COMMUNICATION MERELY CALLED ATTENTION TO FRENCH INTERESTS, IT WAS SAID.
