France’s chief rabbi said he opposes legislation to ban religious insignia in French schools. Following a meeting Friday with Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin, Joseph Sitruk said a formal ban “was the wrong way to solve the problem” of religious intolerance in French society.
