France’s interior minister fired a top regional official who said Israeli soldiers shoot little girls. Michele Alliot-Marie dismissed Bruno Guigue last week, the French press agency reported Sunday.
Guigue, the deputy prefect of the southwestern town of Saintes, had written an online column in which he described Israel as “the only state where snipers shoot down little girls outside their school gates.” A prefect is the top federal official in a locality and outranks local officials on security issues.
