Brith Sholom was organized in February, 1905, by a group of forty-four men. Today its members in many parts of the country enjoy fraternal advantages and participate in Jewish communal work. Judge William M. Lewis is president of the order, with Martin O. Levy grand secretary and Jacob Ginsburg treasurer.
Joachim Heinrich Biesenthal, nineteenth century German missionary, received the degree of doctor of theology from the University of Giesen.
