A grant of $300,000 toward the establishment of a dental school at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem was voted here at the 45th annual convention of Alpha Omega, the Jewish dental fraternity of the United States and Canada.
Addressing the convention, Dr. Isaac Schour of the University of Illinois reported that undernourished children entering Israel from Persia, Iraq, Morocco and Egypt had an average of only one cavity per child, in contrast with an American-Canadian average of seven or eight cavities per child. The difference was caused by the absence of sugar from the diet of the immigrant children, Dr. Schour said.
