More than eight hundred delegates and visitors today concluded the eleventh ananual encampment of the Jewish War Veterans of the United States.
J. George Fredman, Jersey City lawyer, was unanimously chosen Commander-in-Chief succeeding Harold Seidberg of Cambridge, Mass. The latter was presented with a medal by Julius S. Berg, New York State Senator.
Col. R. Mendelsohn of Brooklyn, former Commander, installed the new officers which besides Mr. Fredman included: Wm. Berman of Boston, Senior Vice-Commander and Harry R. Raymond of New York, Junior Vice-Commander. Rabbi Abraham Nowak of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, was again chosen Chaplain-in-Chief and Rabbi Edward Lissman of New York, honorary Chaplain-in-Chief.
Ethel Cohen of Providence, R. I., was elected head of the ladies’ auxiliary which held its meeting at the same time.
The principal speaker at the convention banquet was Congressman Sol Bloom of New York, head of the Washington Bi-Centennial, who pledged continued support for veteran legislation in Congress. A Bi-Centennial military ball was one of the features of the convention.
Resolutions adopted were primarily of a secular character, such as favoring repeal of the 18th amendment. A resolution urging immediate payment of the government bonus was adopted. A resolution disapproving the activities of the National Administration toward the B.E.F. was tabled.
Mr. Fredman was head of the Convention committee, Herman W. Brams of Newark, treasurer, and Louis Weiss, clerk of the New Jersey House of Assembly, was secretary.
