Speaking with high praise of the “loyal cooperation” that French-Jewish soldiers extended to the Free French forces in the Syrian campaign, Commandant J. P. Simon, civil representative of Gen. Charles de Gaulle, today declared that the Free French regime will support unlimited Jewish immigration into Palestine.
Addressing a large Jewish youth gathering in Leeds, Simon declared that France had always supported the policy of free immigration into Palestine and that Free France would continue to do so. “There is no Jewish question in Free France.” De Gaulle’s representative stated. “The spirit of the revolution which is still alive in the hearts of loyal Frenchmen will certainly guide Free France in bestowing liberty and equality upon all citizens without distinction as to race or color.”
