Senator Justin Godart of France has submitted to Secretary General Joseph Avenol and Council President Adle of the League of Nations facts concerning recent anti-Jewish measures of the Rumanian Government, on behalf of the Committee for the Defence of Jews.
The report emphasizes decrees by the Labor Ministry and publication by the Justice Ministry on Jan. 27 of reasons for revision of citizenships of Rumanian Jews as showing the Government’s intention to proceed with the measure. It also cites attacks against Jewish lawyers and students, and requests intervention of League organs authorized to watch the situation. The Committee sent copies of its memorandum to all members of the Council.
