The French Parliament debated the offer made to Prof. Albert Einstein of the chair of mathematical physics in the Sorbonne here.
Louis Marin, leader of the extreme Right, received thunderous applause when he declared, “We abhor religious oppression. In 1914 Prof. Einstein refused to associate himself with the anti-French Manifesto. Now France is happy to render him homage.”
Premier Daladier, in his speech, stated: “We glorify Prof. Einstein not only as a scientific genius but as a courageous man.”
