A spokesman for the French embassy here today stated that the Nuncio had not protested against any action of the Vichy Government concerning the Jews, but had apprised Marshal Petain of the Vatican’s displeasure with anti-Semitic actions by the Germans in the occupied part of France.
“The matter was not mentioned during the conversations between ambassador Henry-Haye and Mr. Summer Welles,” the spokesman for the French embassy declared.
