A compromise arrangement by means of which the oil from the Mosul fields in Iraq will be piped in two lines one going to Haifa in Palestine and the other to Tripoli in Syria by way of Aleppo has settled the protracted disagreement between French and English oil interests, according to Paris reports in the London press.
The British controlling Palestine sought to have the Mediterranean pipe line end at Haifa while the French controlling Syria were equally insistent on having the line terminate at Tripoli. The compromise provides that at some as yet undetermined point the pipeline will branch out in two directions, one going to Haifa and the other to Tripoli.
