The disbanding of the “Jewish Scouts of Algeria” and of the “Hebrew Scouts” there on the ground that their insignia and creed are “separatist,” is demanded by Jean Phialy in the Paris “Gringoire” reaching here today. The Jewish Scouts of Algeria wear a Judah Maccabee insignia, while the Hebrew Scouts, better known as Eclaireurs Israelites, wear medallions showing the Tablets of the Law between the two lions of Judah. Phialy also objects to the “Hatikvah” which is sung by the Scouts.
