French Foreign Minister Hubert Vedrine told the U.N. General Assembly that his country supports U.S. efforts to move the Middle East peace process forward. He also told the world body about a proposal floated earlier this year by French President Jacques Chirac and Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak to convene a regional peace conference should the U.S. effort prove fruitless.
