A Foreign Office spokesman here today confirmed that the French Government bas permitted a French armaments firm to cell and deliver a quantity of arms to Lebanon, but added that the total value of the shipments to date is only $87,000.
Yesterday ah arms company admitted to the J.T.A. that it lad received orders for $20,000,000 worth of mortars, artillery and machineguns from Lebanon. A Government official explained that the sale was in “fulfillment” of a year-old Franco-Lebanese pact.
