French Halting All Jews Attempting to Enter Their Zone of Austria from U.S. Area

In an attempt to prevent illegal immigration to Palestine from the American zone of Austria through the French zone, the French authorities are refusing to permit any Jews to cross the border, it was learned here today.

Recently, a Palestinian Jew was halted at the frontier and when ordered back to to the American zone he demanded and received written acknowledgment of the order. It reads: “By order of Lieutenant Munsch, security officer in Kitzbuehel, the under signed billeting officer Follet, chief of post in Waidring, certificates hereby that the gendarmes of this detachment are ordered not to allow Jews from the American zone into the French zone. (signed ) E. Follet.”
