French Jews who were orphaned as children during the Holocaust will receive compensation from the state, according to Prime Minister Lionel Jospin. In his annual speech to French Jewish leaders, Jospin said Saturday that children whose parents were deported from France by the pro-Nazi Vichy regime will get either a lump sum or a monthly pension of about $500 under a program to be outlined in the coming weeks.
