Dissatisfaction with German refugees who have been settling on the west side of the Franco-German frontier culminated in a monster mass meeting at Metz at which the demand was expressed that the refugees get out. Speakers protested against the attitude of local Jews who prefer to employ Jewish refugees from Germany at the expense of French workers. Resolutions of protest were adopted, but the prefect of police prohibited the street demonstration which had been planned.
