Emil Roche, chairman of the French National Economic Council, arrived here today at the head of a delegation of representatives of French banks and investment houses and engineering firms. He was greeted by a government delegation led by Labor Minister Mordecai Namir.
M. Roche said that the mission would study Israeli industry and development plans with a view to advising French investors of the situation in this country. Among the projects which M. Roche and his group will discuss with Israel Cabinet members is the proposed Elath-Mediterranean oil pipeline.
At a luncheon given in his honor by Finance Minister Levi Eshkol, M. Roche told the Israelis that the ” lesson of courage and dignity” which the Israeli people have given the world “earned them the friendship and esteem of the French people. ” He noted that in the “struggle for peace and justice, Israel found France at her side from the very beginning. “
