The French Parliament today adopted a resolution addressing “brotherly greetings to Israel” and appealing to the Arab states to respect the principles of “international cooperation within the framework of the United Nations in order to ensure the establishment of peace in the Middle East. ” The resolution, which earlier was approved by the Foreign Affairs Commission by a vote of 15 to two, also urged the Jews and Arabs to reestablish friendly relations.
The Assembly rejected, by 302 to 136 votes, a resolution introduced by Moslem Deputies calling for the shelving of all discussion of the Palestine issue until Foreign Minister Bidault had expressed his views on the matter. Meanwhile, the French Federation of Labor today sent a message of greetings and solidarity to the Histadruth in Israel.
