French prosecutors are planning to investigate who helped convicted Nazi collaborator Maurice Papon flee earlier this month to Switzerland. Under French law, aiding a fugitive can result in a three-year prison term and a heavy fine. Swiss officials returned Papon to France last Friday, when he began serving a 10-year jail sentence for complicity in the deportation of some 1,500 French Jews during the Nazi occupation.
