The thanks of French Zionists for the action of the French Consul General in Jerusalem during the disturbances, were expressed in a letter addressed by the Zionist Federation of France to the government.
“The Council of the Zionist Federation of France is happy to fulfill the pleasant duty of pointing out the admirable conduct, conforming to the French tradition, of the Consul General in Jerusalem during the recent troubles,” the letter stated. “The Jewish world learned with deep gratitude that the French representative gave shelter to threatened Jews and protected their lives, thus sparing more horrors. On behalf of the French Zionists, we express our gratitude to the government and its Consul General.”
