The trial began today in the Seine Court of Justice of Louis Thomas on charges of denouncing French Jewish officers to the Nazis during the occupation. During that period, the Germans named him literary director of the publishing house of Calmann-Levi, the head of which was Jewish. A verdict is expected Saturday.
Various sentences were handed down today in the Appeal Court here on members of the now-dissolved Irgun Zvai Leumi who were convicted of charges of possessing arms in November, 1947. The sentences varied from suspended jail terms of several months duration to a suspended fine of 5,000 francs (about $12.)
