Dr. Max Friedlaender, noted music historian and expert in the field of songs, particularly those of Schubert and Brahms and German folksongs, died here.
He was eighty-two years old and had been honorary professor of the history of music at the University of Berlin. His best-known work was the monumental “The German Song in the Eighteenth Century,” published in 1902.
