Benny Friedman, newly appointed head football coach at City College, was tendered a luncheon yesterday afternoon.
President Robinson, who invited sport writers from the metropolitan dailies as his guests, was the principal speaker. He officially welcomed Friedman as a new member of the faculty of the hygiene department.
Friedman spoke of the present football situation at City College and then expounded his theories of what it should be.
A huge pep rally will greet the former All-American football player today in the great hall of the college. He will then be introduced to the student body.
Friedman’s contract calls for $10.000 for two years. This is being raised by private subscription among alumni who have undertaken to pay his salary.
