From a preliminary announcement by Walter D. Van Sickle of this town, counsel for the Friends of New Germany, it became evident here today that a fight is planned on the recent decision handed down in Jersey City by Vice Chancellor Bigelow refusing the “Friends” an injunction against police interference with their meetings.
Van Sickle would not take public issue with the points raised in the Bigelow decision but he did announce that the “Friends” will seek to present additional arguments in Chancery Court with a view toward having the Vice Chancellor’s opinion voided.
Despite the Bigelow decision and continued refusal to permit meetings of the “Friends” in Union Hill Turn Verein, Union City Nazis have persisted in attempts to congregate. Several nights ago, the group, unable to obtain a police permit, decided to meet irrespective of consequences. The chief of police personally appeared and asked the crowd of about 200 to leave. Many were adamant against doing so but the meeting was suspended after Henry Woisin, president of the local of the “Friends” counseled obedience to the police order.
