Professor Joseph Klausner, who occupies the chair of modern Hebrew literature at the Hebrew University, was feted by friends, students and admirers here today on his sixtieth birthday anniversary.
Regarded as the dean of Hebrew letters in Palestine, the professor has made many contributions toward the analytical study and appreciation of Hebrew literature in contemporary times.
He is the author of “Jesus of Nazareth,” a book translated by Canon Herbert Danby of St. George’s Cathedral. Prof. Klausner has also written “A History of Modern Hebrew Literature,” the standard work on the subject, which has just appeared in English.
