On the eve of Grand Jury hearings tomorrow, at which 15 subpoenaed Columbians are expected to testify about the activities of the anti-Jewish, anti-Negro organization, many members have deserted the group, it was reported today.
Fulton County Solicitor General Andrews said that one of the section leaders of the Columbians and numerous lesser fry have notified the authorities that they have resigned. At the same time, there was an unconfirmed report that Homer Loomis Jr. and Emory Burke, the leaders of the organization, were preparing to close down their Atlanta headquarters.
