Funeral services were held here today for Rabbi Bernard L. Chayet, former president of the Council of Rabbis of Massachusetts and an associate Justice of the Rabbinical Court of Greater Boston. He died here Thursday, aged 68. Following services here, the remains of Rabbi Chayet were taken to New York International Airport to be flown to Israel for interment there.
Born in Lithuania, Rabbi Chayet served as chief rabbi of Esthonia before coming to Boston 30 years ago. He was a founder of the Associated Synagogues of Greater Boston. He was spiritual leader of Congregation Toras Moshe here since 1942.
