Funeral services for Dr. Maurice Faber, 79, rabbi of Temple Beth-El, were held here today. Dr. Faber, who served as head of the local synagogue for thirty-four years, succumbed to heart disease.
Dr. David Lefkowitz of Dallas, Rabbi David Alpert of Texarkana and Rabbi Merfeld of Fort Worth officiated.
Rabbi Faber was the second oldest American member of the Central Conference of American Rabbis. which he joined in 1890. He was a regent of the University of Texas in 1915 and 1916.
He is survived by two sons, Dr. Edwin Faber of Denver and Arthur Faber of Washington, D. C., and two daughters, Mrs. Philip Lipstate of Tyler and Mrs. Philip Friedlander of Memphis, Tenn.
