Funeral services for Dr. David Simon Blondheim, professor of Romance philology at the Johns Hopkins University, were held yesterday afternoon. The services were conducted by the Rev. Dr. Morris S. Lazaron, rabbi of the Madison Avenue Temple. Burial was in the Baltimore Hebrew Cemetery.

Dr. Blondheim, who was 49 years old, had been a member of the Johns Hopkins faculty for seventeen years. He was found dead from gas poisoning Monday in the kitchen of his apartment. A verdict of suicide was given.

Dr. Blondheim was regarded as the “outstanding man in this country in the field of medieval French and French linguistics,” according to Dr. Henry C. Lancaster, head of the French department at the University. He was the author of many books on the subject.
