Funeral services were held at the Brandeis University here this weekend for Irving G. Fine, prominent American Jewish composer and professor of music at Brandeis, who died Thursday at the age of 47. Rabbi Harold Weisberg officiated.
Born in Boston, Mr. Fine studied choral conducting under Dr. Serge Koussevitzky and was for many years an assistant professor of music at Harvard University and served on the faculty of the Berkshire Music Center. In 1950 he Joined the faculty of Brandeis University, where he was professor of music and chairman of the School of Creative Arts.
