The Military Government office reported today that a significant number of Gaza Strip residents failed to return to their homes after making the annual pilgrimage to Mecca earlier this year. Military Government sources said that many of them probably went to seek employment in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait or the oil-rich Persian Gulf shiekdoms. This was the habit among Arab youth in Gaza even before last June’s Six-Day War, they noted.
