Edward E. Gelber was unanimously re-elected president of the Zionist Organization of Canada at the closing session of the ZOC’s 32nd convention, Rabbi Jesse Schwartz was re-elected national executive director.
Addressing a luncheon of the organization yesterday, Michael Comay, Israel Minister of Ottawa, declared that Israel was not prepared to be “sacrificed on the altar of politics” by the great powers. He stressed that there always was a danger of one of the great powers adopting a policy detrimental to Israel. Mr. Comay also underscored Israel’s determination not to give way before the Arab economic boycott, though he pointed out that it was becoming more efficient and better organized.
