Lt. Col. J. E. L. Castonguay, a Canadian, at present acting chairman of the Jordan-Israel Mixed Armistice Commission, has been reassigned to the chairmanship of the Syrian-Israeli M.A.C., according to an announcement made here today by Maj. Gen E. L. M. Burns, chief of staff of the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization.
Gen, Burns also announced appointment of Lt. Col. Christian F. Moe to the chairmanship of the Jordan-Israel Mixed Armistice Commission. Col. Moe is a Norwegian.
(Statistics revealed here today disclosed that during the past Jewish year, 74 Israelis were killed and 200 injured in incidents on the borders of Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon. Most of the casualties were suffered on the Egyptian border.)
