Brigadier General Julius-Klein, former National Commander of the Jewish War Veterans of America, today issued a statement apologizing for disseminating in his newsletter a front-page article on the economic outlook in the United States by Merwin K. Hart, identified by the B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation League as one of America’s leading anti-Semites.
Gen. Klein, who calls his newsletter “a review of national and international events,” said that he will issue a special bulletin “setting forth in clear and emphatic terms my abhorrence for everything Hart represents and my profound regret at an editorial error which gave him access to my newsletter.” He added that “the inclusion of the Hart article came about through a total lack of acquaintance with Hart’s record on the part of an editor, who in consequence, has been relieved from the editorship.”
