Brig. Gen. Julius Ochs Adler yesterday received from Robert P. Patterson, Under-Secretary of War, the Legion of Merit for “exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services.”
General Adler, who was for nearly three years assistant division commander of the Sixth Infantry Division, which is now in the Southwest Pacific, recently returned to this country following a serious illness in New Guinea, and will revert to inactive military status Nov. 17. In civilian life he is vice president and general manager of the New York Times and president and publisher of the Chattanooga Times.
