The American Jewish Committee, B’nai B’rith and Jewish Labor Committee announced today that the General Jewish Council intended to continue and to enlarge its scope, notwithstanding the withdrawal of the American Jewish Congress delegation.
“The three organizations who continue their membership in the General Jewish Council voiced their regret at action of the American Jewish Congress and expressed their regret at the action of the American Jewish Congress and expressed their hope that the American Jewish Congress would soon return to the General Jewish Council, ” the statement said.
The Congress withdrew its delegation at a meeting on April 6 after the Council had voted down the Congress’s proposal that the Council dissolve.
