Dr. Peretz Bernstein, president of the General Zionist Party in Israel, today said he is investigating the authenticity of the report that Premier David Ben Gurion rejected a proposal that Dr. Abba Hillel Silver be invited to Israel as the official guest of the government. The report was published in the daily newspaper Haaretz, here.
Dr. Bernstein said he fears the report is true since no denial has come so far from government circles, (In New York, Benjamin G. Browdy, president of the Zionist Organization of America, revealed today that he sent a cable to Premier Ben Gurion asking for “clarification” on his reported refusal to invite Dr. Silver to Israel.)
