Georges Dayon, a close associate of French Socialist leader Francois Mitterand and a long-time friend of Israel and Jewish causes, died here yesterday at the age of 84 Dayan a lawyer, was born in Oran, Algeria, and was a friend of Mitterand since their student days at law school in Paris in the 1930s. He was Mitterand’s Chief of Cabinet in the Socialist regime of the Fourth Republic.
