The Israel Institute of Technology at Haifa will be the recipient of a bequest of several million dollars it was learned here today when the will of the lata Gerard Swope, onetime president of General Electric Company, was filed in surrogate’s court.
Mr. Swope left various bequests ranging from $25,000 to $100,000 to American institutions and the balance of his estate to the Technion. The Swope family estimated that the residue would amount to several millions. The money was left to the Institute for the following purposes:
1. Enlargement of the student loan fund to assist students at the Technion. 2. Establishment of fellowships to permit graduates of the Israel school to study at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. 3. Payment of salaries and to make gifts and loans to members of the Technion faculty. 4. Promotion of scientific research at the Technion.
