West Germany’s Chancellor Ludwig Erhard assured Prime Minister Levi Eshkol — in a message delivered here today by a ranking emissary — that his Government intends to bring the Israeli-German talks on Bonn’s aid to Israel “to a favorable conclusion. ” The talks, once interrupted, are scheduled to be resumed in Bonn next Wednesday.
The Erhard message to Mr. Eshkol, delivered personally by Erich Blumenfeld, a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the German Bundestag, lower house of Parliament, informed the Israeli Premier that the Chancellor takes “a personal interest in the talks, due to their great historic significance.” Mr. Blumenfeld arrived here yesterday and conferred with Foreign Minister Abba Eban as well as with the Ministers of Finance and Commerce and Industry.
