Dr. Cohen Weiner, authority on Jewish and Central Asian art and antiquities, is now doing research for the State of Baroda. Dr. Weiner is a German Jew who lost his professional post in the Reich when Hitler came into power.
Dr. Weiner was born in Germany in 1882. He studied archaeology, art and philosophy at the University of Berlin and the r##bincal sciences at the Jewish Sciences High School.
In 1919 he was appointed head of the Art Department of the Humboldt-Hochschule at Berlin. In 1926 he was appointed chairman. He has traveled a great deal. During 1924 and 1925 he did important research work in Western Turkestan, where he discovered a number of buildings which were previously unknown.
On being dismissed from his post for racial reasons, he went to England. He lectured in London at the University School of Oriental Studies and at the Royal Asiatic Society and the India Society.
